Banreservas Drives Tourism Development with $6 Million Financing for a New Days Inn by Wyndham Hotel in Juan Dolio
January 21st, 2025
Madrid, Spain. During the 2025 International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which kicks off this Wednesday, January 22, Banreservas and Grupo De Valle (GDV) formalized an agreement to construct the Days Inn by Wyndham hotel in Juan Dolio. This pivotal investment will establish the strategic area near the Dominican Republic’s capital as a premier tourism destination. The hotel, marking the first U.S.-branded property in Juan Dolio’s history, is set to open in June 2025.
Banreservas approved $6 million in financing, reaffirming its role as a strong ally of the Dominican tourism sector. With a total investment of $12.6 million, the project has already reached 65% completion in its structural phase.
The agreement was signed at the historic Gran Hotel Inglés by Banreservas’ General Administrator, Samuel Pereyra, and Edward De Valle II, President of Grupo De Valle. During the event, Pereyra emphasized that the project will invigorate the local economy and enhance the region’s tourism infrastructure, positioning Juan Dolio as an attractive destination for both domestic and international visitors.
Edward De Valle II highlighted that this partnership represents a milestone in the development of mid-scale hotel properties in the Dominican Republic. It aligns with his ambitious plan to deliver 4,500 rooms over the next five years across strategic locations, ensuring broader access to quality accommodations.
Strategic Location and Project Design
The Days Inn by Wyndham Juan Dolio will be located on the Boulevard of Juan Dolio in Guayacanes, San Pedro de Macorís Province, just 29 minutes from Las Américas International Airport. Spanning a 7,065.60 m² plot, the project will feature a four-story main building with 3,582.04 m² of construction. The hotel will include 115 rooms, designed to offer modern, accessible experiences to guests.
Tourism and Economic Impact
As part of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts—the world’s fourth-largest hotel chain with over 9,000 properties across 80 countries—Days Inn by Wyndham will diversify Juan Dolio’s hospitality offerings and bolster its position in the tourism market. Scheduled for completion later this year, the hotel will generate both direct and indirect jobs, stimulate local economic activity, and strengthen the region’s tourism infrastructure.
The signing ceremony was attended by Chiara Ieromazzo, a project shareholder; Ysidro García, Executive Vice President of Business at Banreservas; and representatives from Banreservas’ Tourism Business Division, led by Deyanira Pappaterra, accompanied by directors Kenneth Martí and Judith Rubiera.
This project underscores the shared commitment of the public and private sectors to the sustainable development of the Dominican Republic, further solidifying its position as a leading Caribbean tourist destination.
